Knowing there's no absolute
I had this on my website, but now - after last night's class - I understand it a little better.
"Is Mozart better than Bethoven? We never love things abolutely. We love them them through our emotions." It was from a wine review actually.
To kill some of the three hours of our class last night, I brought out my small portfolio of photos - 30 of which I need to choose 4 for entry in the National Geo Traveler photo contest.
R and I had reviewed the 8x10's the night before, and arrived at 10 finalists. My class - me, two plus the teacher, chose almost entirely different ones. My clear favorite, a given no matter what the other three ended up being, wasn't a contender.
This was, as the class wore on and my most-worked-on piece of writing got critiqued - good knowledge to have. There's no one right. So go from here and choose according to a greater inner-confidence than outer-okays.
Took a long time to learn this - here's to adult ed.
