Brazilian books

Last night, R and I were invited to the launch (inaugural reading?) of a slim green book, Little Star of Bela Luna by Luana Monteiro (who might have stepped off the pages of 100 Years of Solitude and into the tiny upper east side bookstore, to read to us).

The hilight for R, besides the pretty author and thrill of being in a really great little bookstore, was being invited to Barbara Ascher's (publisher, friend) "super secret after party", at her apartment.

Right up there with unexpected food packages are super secret after parties.

This one was pretty wonderful. Heady stuff to dip toes into the literary crowd scene - publishers and agents and authors and reviewers.

We left giddy - talking big talk of books and ideas and plans.
